There’s a class in ECDE known as play group.
This is where learning starts. The learners in this class don’t just go to school to play alone.
This class is called a recognition and formation class.
This is where the learner is introduced to the 26 sounds and by the end of the year they should be able to recognise and identify a number of the sounds if not all.
This is the class where a child develops motor skills. He/she is introduced to holding pencils and crayons. They should be able to colour and scribble.
This is the class where learners are introduced to numbers 1-10. They should be able to recognise the numbers as well.
Therefore this class is as important as any other class.
