Thousands of education professionals who supervised the 2025 national examinations face a deepening crisis after Treasury CS John Mbadi ruled out any additional funding to clear their long-overdue payments.

Mbadi stated that Treasury had already released the full budget allocation to the Ministry of Education and that responsibility for settling KNEC contractors now lies squarely with that ministry.

“If it is inadequate to pay the KNEC contracting professionals, there is no additional allocation, since we already disbursed what Parliament approved,” he said.

The CS insisted that Treasury retain no education funds, releasing all allocations on time, and directed aggrieved teachers to pursue the Education Ministry for answers.

Mbadi separately disclosed that only 20,000 of 44,000 intern teachers will be confirmed on permanent terms this year, with the remaining 24,000 serving another year under internship status
